New Google SERP Snippet for Listing Type Pages

From a couple of days Google started showing SERP description snippets different than it’s traditional ones Like Below:

Google SERP Snippet for Listing Pages

Here i found the answer from Google’s official blog http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/2011/08/new-snippets-for-list-pages.html

Snippets—the few lines of text that appear under every search result—are designed to give you a sense for what’s on the page and why it’s relevant to your query. This week we started rolling out snippet improvements for pages that contain lists; results for these pages will now reflect the structure of the page, rather than just showing two lines of text.

If a search result consists mostly of a structured list, like a table or series of bullets, we’ll show a list of three relevant rows or items underneath the result in a bulleted format. The snippet will also show an approximate count of the total number of rows or items on the page (for example, “30+ items” in the screenshot below).

This change to snippets will be rolling out globally over the next few days. Over time we’ll keep making more snippet improvements to better reflect the content of our search results, making it easier for you to find the most relevant results.

Google AdWords Editor 9.5 Released

Google Adwords Editor 9.5Google has launched version 9.5 of the Google AdWords Editor for both Windows and Mac computers. The latest version streamlines several tasks, grants greater control over experiments, and adds support for location extensions.

Key Features of AdWords Editor 9.5
While AdWords Editor version 9.5 has a long list of added features, there are a few items of note. The most visible is the updated UI, which gives additional status information in-line and provides a warning text when you revert changes.

However, other function-based changes can be found just below the surface.

Additional support for images and extensions is given in 9.5. Users can use several new image sizes for both desktop and mobile ads, and location extensions can now be edited or created manually directly from the AdWords Editor interface. Adding multiple items will now be easier as well, with a streamlined workflow for this task.

Those working on large accounts with multiple campaigns will be pleased with the new “background download” feature, which grabs information from campaigns that you’re not currently working with.

The last key change is an updated set of controls for ad experiments. Users can now:

* Alter experiment status on the ad group, ad, or keyword level.
* Edit default bids at the ad group level.
* Alter bid multipliers at the keyword level.
* Upload and download experiment details as CSV or XML.

All of these features are in addition to existing features such as the ability to work offline, make batch edits, create a collaborative team approach to AdWords, and copy items between campaigns.

Current AdWords Editor users will be prompted to download version 9.5 when they next open the program. If you’re not seeing the message or if you’re a first-time AdWords Editor user, you can download it from Google directly.

Google Panda Update in Europe: Winners & Losers in Switzerland, Italy, Spain

With the early August release of the Panda algorithm update on a global scale we saw substantial changes in several European markets. We’ve previously reported on Panda’s impact in France, Germany, and Austria

SearchMetrics, after looking at a number of keywords somewhere between several hundred thousand and 10 million, once again has collected data on organic visibility, this time for SwitzerlandItaly, and Spain.

Sites Affected with Google Panda August Update

Switzerland Winners & Losers

Switzerland is an interesting case because the country is so multilingual; searches for French, German, and Italian keywords were tabulated. Switzerland saw a truly substantial drop on several major sites, including indeed.ch, a job search site which saw a 98.59 percent decrease in visibility; wikio.de, a news and shopping site which saw a 93.71 percent decrease in visibility; and alatest.de, a gadget review site which saw a 90.44 percent decrease in visibility.

Italy Winners & Losers

Visibility losses in Italy tended to be more moderate than in Switzerland, but there were still sites that were hit especially hard. Annunciasubito.com, a “bulletin board” site, saw a 98.63 percent visibility loss; ciaoblog.com, a technology article site, saw a 95.54 percent visibility loss; and gioxx.org, a blog focusing largely on technology items, saw a 94.29 percent visibility loss.

The Big Picture

Who’s winning and who’s losing overall? It’s tough to say without looking at it region-by-region.

In Germany, Facebook fell; in Italy and Spain, it rose. Big sites like YouTube, Android, Apple, Twitter, and Wikipedia saw a big boost in some regions; in others, there was no visible impact. In Spain, free game sites seemed to take the brunt of the blow. In both Switzerland and Italy, it was previously top-dog gadget and technology sites that got hit hard.

Every region is showing dramatically different results. If nothing else, this confirms that Google isn’t trying to hinder any specific category of site, but is instead focusing on other “spam metrics” that penalize individual sites and that can have a difficult-to-predict cascading effect on the rest of the SERP. We’ll keep you updated as more information is released on Panda’s impact in other regions.
